The Library does not subscribe to Covidence, however, this tool has a free trial option that is limited to 500 records, which may be sufficient for some reviews.

Alternatives include:

  • Catchii, a free-to-use screening tool that was launched in September 2023
  • SR Accelerator, a loosely-connected suite of free systematic review automation tools
  • Rayyan, a paid screening and deduplication tool with a limited free option
  • PICO Portal, a paid systematic review automation tool with a limited free option

Note:

  • Teams at OHSU looking to acquire a paid tool should consider contacting their department administration staff responsible for purchasing software
  • Grant-funded projects can account for the cost of tools in their budgets
  • The Library has heard of teams using multiple free trial Covidence accounts to complete screening for reviews with more than 500 records
  • Teams interested in systematic review automation tools might want to check out our Systematic Reviews Guide

OHSU Librarians specialize in assisting OHSU students, faculty, and staff with both literature and systematic reviews. Contact us or schedule an appointment to Meet with a Library Expert to get help with your search projects.

  1. This FAQ was updated to add more information about paid tools with free tiers, freely available tools, and a link to our Systematic Reviews guide. Information about DistillerSR was removed because it no longer offers any pricing information without sacrificing personal information.
