The OHSU library is excited to offer a new Urgent Request service that provides nearly immediate access to articles outside of our subscriptions directly within your browser. This service is provided at no cost to library users, but is more expensive for the library, so if you have the flexibility to wait up to 24 hours (typically less than 8), please consider using our Get It For Me service instead.
1. To place an Urgent Request, search for and select the article in the library catalog. You can search by article title, DOI, or PubMed ID. If you don't find what you're looking for near the top of the results, click the expand search button.
2. Select the article by clicking on the title in the search results.
3. If you haven't already, sign in using the yellow sign in banner.
4. Once you've signed in, if the journal has the Urgent Request service enabled, you should see a link to place an urgent request with the Get it from other libraries link below it. If not, you will only see the Get it from other libraries link. (Please note that Urgent Requests are only available for a limited selection of journals at this time. If you would like to have a journal added to the service, please let us know.)
5. This link will redirect you to our service partner, Article Galaxy Scholar. Clicking the "Request PDF" link should load your article within a few seconds.
6. Once you have the article, be sure to save it to your computer or a citation manager such as Zotero or EndNote. Please note, on rare occasions your article may not be able to be loaded immediately. In these cases, your article will be delivered via email within the hour.
If you have any questions, please contact the library.
