Some ebooks have a limited number of copies available. To ensure the content of a limited-user ebook is available for as many people as possible, please download the portion you need and then close out of the book to free it up for the next person.

Downloading a chapter

  1. Scroll through the table of contents to locate the chapter(s) or section(s) you need.
  2. Select the Download PDF button.

Download limitations are determined by the publisher and refresh every 24 hours. If you’ve reached the publisher’s download limit for the day, this button will not be available. Please try again the following day.

For more detailed instructions, see the ProQuest support article, "Print or download a chapter or page range."

Using the Read Online function

  • If you are unable to download the portion of the book you need to use, you can still use the Read Online function
  • The Read Online function takes up an available seat and may prevent others from reading or downloading the book, so please remember to close out of the online reader as soon as you are finished.

Using the Wait List function

If you are unable to read online because all copies are in use, you can join the wait list:

  1. Select the Place Hold option (using either the button on the left or the link under Availability) to be placed on the wait list.
  2. If you do not have a wait list email set up, you will be prompted to set one up using a Profile link.
    1. You will receive an email from ProQuest with a confirmation link to click.
    2. Once your email address is confirmed, you can place a hold on the book, which will add you to the wait list.
  3. When the book becomes available, you will receive an email notification with a link to access the content.
    1. You may need to Sign In using with your OHSU network credentials using the link in the upper right corner of the screen.
    2. Your hold is only active for a limited time. Until you access and exit the book, or the hold expires, the seat is locked for others.

For more information about wait lists, see the ProQuest support article, "How do I place a hold on a book?"
