The OpenAthens bookmarklet helps you check if the full text of an article is available through the OHSU Library.  Follow these steps to install and use it.

Install the OpenAthens bookmarklet

  1. Enable Javascript in your web browser (this is usually on by default).
  2. Make sure that the browser’s toolbar is visible and unlocked.
  3. Add the bookmarklet to your browser using one of these options:
    • Option A (drag and drop)
      • Click and drag the button below onto the web browser’s toolbar: OpenAthens
    • Option B (manual set up)
      • Copy the following line of code to your clipboard:

javascript:void(location.href="https://go.openathens.net/redirector/ohsu.edu?url="+location.href)

  • Create a new bookmark in your toolbar (usually by right-clicking the toolbar and selecting "Add Page" or "New Bookmark").
  • Paste the above code into the URL field.

Use the OpenAthens bookmarklet

  1. When you're on a webpage with an article read, click the OpenAthens bookmarklet in your toolbar.
  2. It will check if the OHSU Library provides access to the full text.
  3. If the bookmarklet doesn't work, that may mean:
    • The Library doesn't subscribe to that journal.
    • You're viewing the article from a source we don't support. In those cases, you'll need to search for the article on the Library Search page.
